Feature · Tactics Board

One board.
Every surface the play has to survive.

Draw it in 2D, present it in 3D, animate it on a real timeline, then send it out as a still, a loop or a video. Same document, same players, same annotations. The board opens without an account and keeps working after you close it.

Shape & squad

A shape in two clicks, from the squad you actually have.

29 preset formations, applied to home or away independently. Run one team or both. Pull in a saved squad and the board respects availability: anyone marked unavailable will not go on the pitch, because the XI you draw should be the XI you can pick.

Who is on the pitchmarkers, kits, roles

Every player carries a number, a name, a position, an optional photo, a role tag and a status ring. Swap between pitch and bench, substitute one for another, or nudge a marker a pixel at a time with the arrow keys. Alignment guides snap a line of four flat without a grid.

Annotation toolkit

13 drawing tools that speak football, not vector graphics.

Ten sit in the palette by default. Four more open when you need them: a shape that joins players into a defensive line, a multi-arrow with one origin, a spotlight that dims everything else, and a highlight ring that stays locked to a player as they move. Every tool has a single-key shortcut.

A mark can appear only for the part of the play it explains, then get out of the way.
Group and ungroup

Shift-click several marks into one object, move them as a unit, break them apart again.

Order and lock

Bring forward, send backward, front, back. Lock a mark so a stray drag cannot move it.

Two undo stacks

Drawings and player positions keep separate 50-step histories, so undoing a line never teleports your back four.

Alignment guides

Live snap lines when a marker lines up with another. Toggle off when you want it messy on purpose.

Pattern library

40 patterns already drawn, so you start from a position instead of a blank pitch.

Hand-authored tactical scenes, not generated ones. Pick a pattern and the board loads its players, ball and annotations. Your team colours and your pitch styling stay exactly as they were, so it lands looking like your board, not a template.

Families40 total
Two things worth knowing

Patterns are authored on a full pitch, so clear any metre-based pitch preset before applying one. And they replace the players, ball and annotations on the board, which is why the board asks before overwriting unsaved work.

Atomic · 30

One idea, drawn cleanly. A centre-back split, a pivot dropping, an inverted full-back, a third-man lay-off. Use them as the vocabulary you teach from.

Composite · 10

Several atomics chained into one sequence. Salida into an eight between the lines, a goal kick that becomes a progressive diagonal, a back three morphing into 2-3-5.

Yours after one edit

A pattern is a starting position, not a locked asset. Drag a player, re-colour an arrow, add keyframes and animate it. Save it as your own tactic when it says what you mean.

Animation & timeline

A timeline, not a slideshow. Every segment is authored.

Set keyframes, name the phases, then go one segment deeper: which player carries the ball, whether the pass rolls, is driven or is lofted, whether it finishes as a pass, a shot or a header, and the exact route a runner takes to get there. Seven easings, adjustable playback speed, loop and timeline zoom.

Ghost trails

Faded copies of where players have already been, so a run reads as a run.

Onion skin

The previous and next keyframe drawn behind the current one while you position.

Player paths

The full route each player will travel, visible while the clip is paused.

Curved interpolation

Bezier between keyframes instead of straight lines, so movement arcs the way bodies do.

Clip length by plan

Keyframes themselves are unlimited on every plan. What the plan caps is how long the finished clip can run, which is the thing that costs render time.

The pitch itself

The surface is a coaching tool, so it is free on every plan.

Thirds, lanes, half spaces, zone 14, corner delivery zones and analyst grids are how you teach positional ideas. They are not branding, so nothing here is behind a paywall. Neither is the pitch you draw them on: sixteen presets sized in real metres, from a full 105 by 68 down to a futsal court or a single penalty box.

Turf and light

Five surface presets (classic, training ground, indoor futsal, street, academy mini-pitch), six league-tuned grass colours, four pitch conditions from pristine to waterlogged, pattern rotation, and a day or night match tone.

Lines and markings

Line colour and weight, border style, outer background, five backdrops. Centre circle classic, dashed or double. Goals as a line, posts or a box. Net and post colours. Penalty box emphasis off, subtle or strong.

Analyst grids

Set your own rows and columns, or drop straight onto an 18-zone analyst grid or a 20-zone positional grid. Overlays follow the preset you are on, so corner zones only appear where that preset actually has a goal.

Look & branding

Picking a look is free. Authoring your own is where Pro starts.

Six built-in board themes ship with the product and any plan can apply them, because a coach on the free tier should not be stuck with a default-looking board. Building your own surface, marker and branding stack, saving it, and pushing it to a whole club is the paid part. Downgrading never breaks a board you already made.

Crest on the centre circle

Upload your club crest and it renders on the pitch in 2D and in 3D, and on the stadium ad boards.

Sponsor logo

A second mark that sits alongside the crest, for the people who paid for the kit.

Club accent and lower third

Accent colour, lower-third background, and a caption style: classic, stacked or ticker.

Stadium strings

Ad board text, big-screen text, home end and away end banner names, all rendered on the 3D shell.

3D view

The same document, rendered at eye level.

3D is not a second board you have to rebuild. It is the same players, the same annotations and the same keyframes, drawn by a different renderer. Analyse in 2D, then turn it round and show the players what the pass actually looks like from where they will be standing. The 3D view is free on every plan.

Presets re-frame an orbit camera instantly. Custom paths go further: scrub to a moment, drag until the shot is right, capture a waypoint, repeat. Chain preset shots and captured paths into a sequence and the whole cut plays back with the animation.

Scene look3 recipes

Underneath each recipe: scene, lighting and environment presets you can set independently, plus a cinematic grade with fog, bloom, vignette and film grain.

A stadium, not a green rectangle

Raked stands with a crowd, floodlight masts, a camera gantry, the tunnel mouth and dugouts. Ad boards and end banners carry your club strings. Turn the whole shell off for a clean analysis stage.

Players that move like players

Rigged 3D models with fifteen animation clips, driven by what the timeline says is happening.

Ball flight that reads

A ground pass rolls, a driven ball skims, a lofted ball arcs, and a header meets it at head height. The carrier is authored per segment, so possession is never ambiguous.

It has to run on your laptop

Low, medium and high quality profiles, plus an adaptive live mode that measures frame rate and steps itself down during playback so the presentation does not stutter in front of a room.

WHERE THE PAYWALL SITS

The 3D view, all six camera modes, custom paths and sequences are free. Exporting a 3D still as a PNG is free and watermarked. What Pro unlocks is 3D video and GIF export, 4K quality, and no watermark.

Export

Built for where it actually lands, not for a generic canvas.

Six frame presets plus your own dimensions, saved on the device for next time. The pitch is cropped to fill the frame instead of floating in dead space, and a 9:16 export auto-frames the action so a vertical clip is not just a squashed 16:9. Add your own brand mark and drag it exactly where you want it.

BOARD-ONLY MODE HIDES EVERY PANEL FOR THE MEETING ROOM SCREEN.

Presenting & sharing

A board nobody sees is a board that did not happen.

The board is the start of the work, not the end of it. Build a storyboard of scenes for the meeting, throw it on the room screen without the toolbars, publish it to the public library, hand it to the drill editor, or open it up so your staff can edit it with you in real time.

Presentation storyboardPro

05Defensive resetRest defence in a mid block, double pivot covering

Capture the current board as a scene, update a scene from the board later, reorder, duplicate or delete. The storyboard travels with the tactic, so tomorrow's meeting opens where today's ended.

Save and reopen

Boards save to your account and reopen exactly as you left them: players, annotations, keyframes, phases, pitch styling and camera library. A local autosave also runs while you work, so a refresh or a closed tab does not cost you the session.

Publish to the public library

Push a finished board into the community library under your name or anonymously. Anyone can open it, watch it in a read-only 3D player, and fork it into their own workspace.

Save the board as a drillPro

Convert the tactic into a drill: players, ball, annotations and every keyframe carry over into the drill editor, where you add setup notes, coaching points and equipment.

Presenter viewPro

A separate full-screen URL for the room screen, with your branding and none of the editing chrome. Open it on the projector, drive it from your laptop.

AN HONEST NOTE

There is no AI on the tactics board today. The 40 patterns are hand-authored by people, not generated, and nothing on this page is written by a model. Teloframe uses AI elsewhere in the product, for review prep and match debriefs, and it never authors the coaching judgement.

What is free, what is paid

The board is genuinely usable free. Here is the line.

Free is not a trial and it is not crippled: every formation, every drawing tool, all 40 patterns, the pitch presets, the coaching overlays and the whole 3D view are in it. Paying buys you longer clips, clean 4K output, 3D video, your own branding and the club surface around the board.

One rule holds across all of it: paying gates authoring a look, never possessing one. If a Pro subscription lapses, the boards you already styled keep their styling and stay editable. Nothing you made gets reverted.

Tactics board FAQs

Straight answers on what the board does today, what it costs, and where the limits are.

Do I need an account to use the tactics board?
No. The board opens without signing in, and a local autosave keeps your work through a page refresh. Formations, drawing tools, patterns, the animation timeline and the 3D view all work signed out. An account is needed to save a board to the cloud, publish it, or export a GIF or MP4.
How many drawing tools does the board have?
Thirteen, plus select. Ten sit in the palette by default: arrow, line, curve, arc, circle, box, zone, freehand draw and text. Four more open behind a toggle: a shape tool that joins players into a defensive line, a multi-arrow with one origin, a spotlight that dims everything else, and a highlight ring that stays locked to a player. Each has a single-key shortcut.
What is in the pattern library?
40 hand-authored tactical scenes: 18 build-up and 22 final third, split into 30 atomic patterns that show one idea and 10 composite patterns that chain several together. Applying one replaces the players, ball and annotations on the board while keeping your team colours and pitch styling. Patterns are authored on a full pitch, so clear any metre-based pitch preset first.
Is the 3D view a separate board I have to rebuild?
No. It is the same document rendered by a different engine, so the same players, annotations and keyframes appear in both. The 3D view is free on every plan, including all six camera modes, custom waypoint paths and camera sequences. Only 3D video and GIF export needs Pro.
How long can an animation be?
15 seconds on Free, 90 seconds on Pro and 180 seconds on Club. The number of keyframes is unlimited on every plan; what the plan caps is the length of the finished clip.
Can my staff edit the same board at the same time?
Yes, on the Club plan. Save the tactic, start a collaboration session and invite your staff. Everyone works on the same board with live cursors and selection rings, and roles decide who can edit and who can only watch.
Is there AI on the tactics board?
No. The 40 patterns are hand-authored by people, not generated. Teloframe uses AI elsewhere in the product, for review prep and match debriefs, where it summarises evidence a coach logged and never writes the coaching judgement.
