Win It Back
They need 10 passes. Read the backswing, step into the lane and win the ball before they get there.
Free. No sign up. Works on your phone.
How to play
One rule: win the ball before they string 10 passes together. You have three lives and five rondos to get through.
01
Hold the middle
Move with WASD, the arrow keys or by dragging the mouse. On a phone, use the joystick. Do not chase the ball: it moves faster than you do, and sprinting empties the stamina arc around your feet.
02
Read the backswing
Every pass is announced. The passer opens their body and swings before the ball leaves. That half second is your head start.
03
Step into the lane
Get a foot in the passing lane and the ball is yours. A clean read on your feet scores the most.
04
Lunge with care
Space or right-click lunges, and so does a tap on the pitch (the Tackle button when your phone is sideways). It doubles your reach for a moment. Miss and you are off balance, and the next pass goes through your legs.
What the game teaches about defending a rondo
The scoring follows what coaches ask of the players in the middle.
Body shape gives the pass away
Defenders who watch the ball arrive late. Defenders who watch hips and the standing foot arrive as the ball does. The game rewards the second kind, because so does the real thing.
First defender presses, second screens
From level 3 you have a partner. They press the ball and cut half the grid. Your job is the pass that splits you both, which is the one the passers want most.
Stay on your feet
A defender on the floor is a defender out of the rondo. The lunge wins balls you could not otherwise reach, and costs you the next two seconds when it misses.

3v3+3 Hexagon Rondo (Atletico Madrid)
The Atletico Madrid hexagon rondo: two teams of six, three inside and three outside each. Keep it 6v3 with triangles, win it and play a safety pass…
3v3v3 Counter-Press Rondo (Newcastle-Style)
A 3v3v3 counter-press rondo with four corner goals: six passes to score, and a turnover breaks for any goal while all six who lost it press to win it…
Transitional Rondo: 4v2 to 6v4
A 4v2 rondo in a 10 x 10 m square that breaks out into a 6v4 in a 25 x 25 m area when the defenders win it. Supporting angles, splits and pressing.
