Rondo football drills

The Atletico Madrid hexagon rondo: two teams of six, three inside and three outside each. Keep it 6v3 with triangles, win it and play a safety pass out.

Three players, four sides, one defender. The two supporters always take the sides next to the ball, so the player not in the pass moves to the free side.

The positional 6v3: four on the sides, two inside, three defenders. Draw them to one side, play through the middle, and if you lose it, you go in.

A 4v2 rondo in a 10 x 10 m square that breaks out into a 6v4 in a 25 x 25 m area when the defenders win it. Supporting angles, splits and pressing.

Three teams of four, two boxes and a middle zone. Five passes or a split earns the transfer, and the middle pair press as it is struck, not when it lands.

5v2 in a box, ten passes for a point. The two win it, play out and it opens to 8v5 with them as pivots: twelve passes unlock four mini goals.

Two teams of six keep it 6v3 in their own box. Win it and you have six seconds to score in a mini goal or switch it to your three in the other box.

Two teams of six, two boxes sharing a line. Eight passes scores a point, the defenders transfer as soon as they win it, the losers counter-press.

A 6v3 rondo in four zones that teaches the midfield box: hold the shape, play off the press, keep it 10 seconds to score. Defenders need three passes.

Ten reds keep a 4v2 in four squares, five passes then transfer. Lose it and the six yellows play a 6v3 central rondo: ten passes is a goal.

The Barcelona 5v2: one attacker on three sides, two on the fourth, two defenders inside. Move them until they go flat, then split them.

A 3v3v3 counter-press rondo with four corner goals: six passes to score, and a turnover breaks for any goal while all six who lost it press to win it back.

Two teams of five keep it 5v2 in their own grid. Ten passes and two fresh defenders come in; win it and play into your grid to keep it there.

A tight 4v2 rondo in a 6 x 6 m square: six passes score 1, a pass into the cone scores 2. Defenders learn to press and cover as a pair.

Four outside players keep the ball from two defenders in a 10x10 square. One and two touch, constant angles, and the splitting pass when it opens.

Four on the lines, a pivot in the middle, two defenders. The point is a pass through the defenders into the pivot and on to the far side.

A warm-up rondo and a technical rondo look identical and are not. One defender, gentle tempo, and nobody coached for the first five minutes.

Retention is not the objective here. A pass between the two defenders scores, and keeping the ball for two minutes scores nothing.
