Deny the gates. Close the space quickly, then slow down, get side-on, show the attacker one way, and delay until you can win the ball or force it out.
One attacker tries to dribble through either of two gates; one defender denies both. Emphasise a fast controlled approach, then a side-on jockey that shows the attacker onto his weaker side. Delay, do not dive in. Rotate the roles and both sides.
