Possession drills for U9-U10

Few rules in youth football exist to teach rather than to regulate. The build-out line does, and most teams waste the space it hands them.

Rolling substitutions are what make this work. Players go flat out because a replacement is always waiting, so nobody has to pace themselves.

The retreat line hands young teams a few unpressured seconds every goal kick. This conditioned 5v5 makes them use it instead of kicking it long.

Shielding is legal obstruction, and the laws permit it under one condition: the ball must stay within playing distance. Drift past that and it is a foul.
