Possession football drills

Vacating space is worthless if nobody runs into it. The drill fails when the nine drops beautifully and every teammate watches him do it.

Holding a zone while the ball is somewhere else feels like not helping. Positional play is mostly the discipline of staying put anyway.

Dropping the pivot every time you have the ball just gives away your midfield. The drop is an answer to a press, not a starting shape.

A pass count forces patience and manufactures pointless sideways passes to reach the number. Use it to fix one problem, then take it off.
