Finishing drills for U15-U16

The same four-pass sequence built on both sides, so the lay-off, the turn and the finish all have to work off either foot.

Short, long, short, long, finish. Most finishing drills rehearse the last two passes of a move. This one rehearses the whole thing.

A twenty metre delivery from the touchline, then a short central feed, then another. Six balls means the finishing happens tired, which is when technique actually gets tested.

Striking a dropping ball is a distinct technique and it barely appears in normal finishing sessions. This narrow lane forces every ball to be dealt with in the air.

Four balls, four different routes to the same goal. Because the picture is identical at the start of each, players have to find the route rather than remember it.

Every shot in this pattern is struck from the same distance, and that is deliberate. Teams that will not shoot from twenty metres end up playing into a crowded box every time.

The same start produces a finish through the middle, on the right or on the left. Practising the choice matters more than practising any one of the three.

Three short passes buy the space and the fourth one uses it. The skill being trained is recognising which of the four you are playing.
