Passing drills for U11-U12

Beat the defender into the space. Time and weight the pass past him into the runner's path so it is taken in stride and played forward.

Strike an accurate driven switch across the pitch and control it cleanly on the far side. Get over the ball to keep the switch flat and fast, and take a directional first touch to drive forward.

Cover the court alone and win the rally: read the flight, move early, take a clean first touch and return it with control or pace.

Run the pattern and beat the marker to finish. Sharp passes through the pattern, and the striker attacks the cross to beat the recovering defender.

Reverse it first time. Read the picture early, take no touch, and wrap the foot around the feed to reverse it into the run in one motion.

Switch it first time. Quick feet through the ladder, scan early, and redirect the feed long to the far side in one touch.

Up, back, through. Play into the striker, get a first-time lay-off, and slide the through ball for the runner to finish in one flowing move.

Combine quickly in the tight space. Crisp pass into feet, sharp lay-off, and a well-timed third-man run to arrive onto C's pass.

Feel the marker and turn away from him. Check to receive, protect the ball with your body, and turn off the defender's blind side to play forward.

Run the pattern crisply and finish. Up to the striker, back to the midfielder, wide to the winger, cross, and the striker attacks the box to finish first-time.

Loft it over the mannequin into the zone. Get it up quickly over the screen and drop it accurately into the target area.

Commit the defender, then reverse it into the run. Shape to play the obvious way, disguise the pass, and thread it against the grain into the runner's path.

One-touch through every gate. Split each gate first time with the right weight and line, and move early to support beyond the next.

Combine and beat the marker. Time the through ball and the run to get in behind the tracking defender, and finish before the block.

Beat the line together. The passer disguises and weights it past the defender; the runner times his run to stay onside and take it in behind.

Combine and finish as the third man. Play into feet, support the lay-off, time the run in behind, and finish the chance you created.
